Rep. Friess statement on signing of largest state budget in Illinois history

Today, Governor Pritzker officially signed the FY27 state budget, the largest spending plan in state history.

In today’s official release, Pritzker claimed that “Illinois has once again demonstrated that responsible governing goes hand in hand with making life more affordable.” Lieutenant Governor Stratton added, “Affordability was at the heart of every decision made in this budget.”

But where is the affordability or responsible governing?

Under the Pritzker/Stratton Administration, their version of affordability and responsible governance has meant higher taxes, higher costs, and bigger government. Before this budget passed, Governor Pritzker had already implemented 57 new taxes and fees, which are estimated to have taken $77 billion from Illinois taxpayers.

And what’s really in this budget? $800 million in new taxes, $220 million in pork projects for Democrat districts, $110 million for healthcare for illegal immigrants, and $40 million for welcoming centers for illegal immigrants.

JB Pritzker and Illinois Democrats are OUT OF TOUCH, and taxpayers will be left to foot the bill!
