SPRINGFIELD… With the first spring session of the 102nd General Assembly quickly heading toward the final stretch, State Representative David Friess (R-Red Bud) is working hard to advance legislation that he sees as beneficial to not just his district, but to Illinois as a whole.
“I’m proud to be a co-sponsor on many pieces of legislation, including bipartisan ones, that I feel can help the people of Illinois,” said Rep. Friess. “The legislation I’m a part of covers a broad range of topics from term limits to economic growth and protecting our most vulnerable. As lawmakers, we must work to responsibly improve the lives of, and remove obstacles for, our constituents. I feel these bills do just that.”
Rep. Friess is currently either a sponsor or co-sponsor of twelve bills currently in the Senate awaiting approval. A sampling of these bills includes HB636, which protects funds allocated to the State Police Firearm Services Fund, the Mental Health Reporting Fund, and the Firearm Dealer License Certification Fund, HB642 which institutes leadership term limits, and HB3317 which creates Colton’s Task Force to establish a consistent, uniform statewide system to protect victims and survivors of domestic violence. The spring 2021 session is set to wrap up at the end of May.
“These bills represent issues that not just important to me, but many across the state, and I’m looking forward to their progress in the Senate. But there is still much to be done during these final three weeks, including passing a fiscally responsible, balanced budget. The work isn’t over yet.” concluded Rep. Friess.
