The Women’s Leadership Initiative continues to foster meaningful connections and promote women’s leadership in our community. The WLI recently held a Midway Luncheon, a special event that provides an opportunity for team members to get to know each other better, share their experiences, and gain valuable insights from one another.
At the Midway Luncheon, Representative Amy Elik addressed the group, sharing her remarkable journey to becoming a State Representative. With a background in accounting, Representative Elik initially entered the world of politics by volunteering her time to assist other individuals with their campaigns. Over time, she found herself more deeply involved in the political arena and, eventually, made the courageous decision to run for public office.
Both Representative Elik and Representative Friess engaged in an open and candid conversation about the challenges that aspiring politicians face, particularly when opponents resort to negative campaigning tactics. They emphasized how these challenges not only affect the candidate but also their entire family, who may be exposed to the harsh realities of politics.
However, both representatives shared that the rewards of a successful campaign and the opportunity to serve their respective communities far outweigh the difficulties encountered along the way. Their inspiring stories serve as a testament to the resilience and dedication required to make a positive impact in public service.
Rep. Friess’ Women’s Leadership Initiative stands as a platform dedicated to empowering and encouraging women to play an active role in community and government leadership. By bringing together accomplished individuals like Representative Amy Elik, the WLI aims to inspire and provide invaluable guidance to its members.
The Women’s Leadership Initiative is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women to flourish as leaders. As it continues to grow, the initiative remains dedicated to mentoring and guiding its members toward successful community involvement and public service.
