State Representative David Friess issued the following statement in Illinois’ most recent corruption trial verdict of Tim Mapes, former House Speaker Mike Madigan’s closest ally:
“The guilty verdict handed down today to a top aide of former House Speaker Michael Madigan clearly shows the need for immediate and sweeping ethics reform in Illinois’ state government. Sadly, the democrats choose not to cross the aisle and work with us to eliminate corruption once and for all this 2023 Spring Legislative session. We cannot let this continue any longer. Was the guilty verdict in the ComEd Four trail this spring not enough to show us that change is desperately needed?”
