The following is a statement from State Representative David Friess on his 2nd annual Toy Drive:
“It is with great pleasure that we are collecting toys for our second annual toy drive.
Last year, the success of our toy drive allowed so many children in our district to enjoy
Christmas morning with a new toy under the tree. The smiles on the faces of these children
bring a great deal of joy to my staff and me. No family should ever have to go without at Christmas.
Each year there are hundreds of children that have minimal or no gifts under the tree. Please help us keep this from happening again. This year, our communities are under greater hardship. So many have no choice, with food and fuel costs at record highs. Please help us share the joy with hundreds of families this holiday season.
In our inaugural toy drive last year, the toys we collected from our generous community were donated to retired educator Debbie Opel and Tina Charron. Debbie oversees distribution to families in Randolph County, and Tina is the Director of House of Neighborly Services in Monroe County.
This year, we will donate the toys collected to the same organizations we donated to last year as well as DuQuoin JC’s serving Perry County and Toys-for-Tots serving Randolph County. Our community’s generous donations will allow us to expand our reach into more cities and villages within our district. Show your Christmas Spirit and bring your donation to our district office at 143 S Main Street Red Bud, IL 62278. Our cut-off for donations is December the 13th at 4 pm. This gives us time to deliver to each organization in time for Christmas. If you have questions, please call our office at 618-282-7284. Thank you and God Bless. “
