Red Bud, IL…State Representative David Friess (R-Red Bud) issued a statement following Governor Pritzker’s State Budget Address Wednesday:
“Today, Governor Pritzker once again showed the lack of leadership that inspired me to serve as state representative. With the failure of his graduated income tax measure in which he gambled this year’s budget, he is now proposal nearly $1 billion in new taxes on Illinois job creators. Where he previously could have worked with lawmakers to make smart, efficient cuts and reforms, Governor Pritzker is choosing a go-at-it-alone process that will leave Illinois a fiscal mess. This proposal hammers our small business industry in a year where they have already been shaken to the core. Governor Pritzker is crippling our state. This proposal must be rejected and both sides must come to the table with an open mind and pass a responsible budget. Illinois families and their businesses can no longer bear the weight of such reckless fiscal policy.”
